Aurubis, Europe’s biggest copper smelter, is expected to receive EU antitrust approval for their acquisition of Metallo, a metal-recycling group, for $412M.
“Due to megatrends such as smart homes, e-mobility, digitalization, and renewable energies, both the quantity and the complexity of secondary raw materials will increase significantly. Metallo’s processing expertise and specific metallurgical know-how provide an excellent complement to Aurubis’ own strengths.”
Jürgen Schachler, previous Executive Board Chairman
A portion of Metallo’s assets based in Spain and Belgium are set to be divested assuming regulatory approval of the acquisition.
