Microsoft will acquire Affirmed Networks, a provider of cloud-native mobile network solutions, at a purchase price of $1.35B, the same valuation at which Affirmed raised capital last month.

The move comes as U.S. tech giants have prepared to pivot towards 5G ahead of the nation-wide rollout of the technology, which is expected to ramp up in late 2020.
