PepsiCo to acquire Rockstar Energy for $3.85B

PepsiCo announces a deal to acquire Rockstar Energy for $3.85B, giving them their first major energy drink brand in the fast-growing market.

“As we work to be more consumer-centric and capitalise on rising demand in the functional beverage space, this highly strategic acquisition will enable us to leverage PepsiCo’s capabilities to both accelerate Rockstar’s performance and unlock our ability to expand in the category.”
Ramon Laguarta, PepsiCo Chairman and CEO

PepsiCo has had an existing agreement to distribute Rockstar Energy drinks in North America since 2009. The transaction is not expected to have a material impact on PepsiCo’s revenue or EPS in 2020.
